Welcome to Elsmere Fire District
Elsmere is one of seven hamlets in the Town of Bethlehem, along with Delmar, Glenmont, Selkirk, Slingerlands and South and North Bethlehem. Elsmere is directly south of and adjacent to the City of Albany, New York’s capital city. It is a modern suburban community that, due to its location in Albany County, offers a unique combination of friendly neighborhoods and convenient retail shopping opportunities. The Town of Bethlehem, incorporated in March of 1793, is a dynamic and diverse community with a population of over 32,000 and total area of 52 square miles.
ELSMERE FIRE DISTRICT PROPOSES TO BUILD A SOUTH STATION AT FEURA BUSH ROAD & WEMPLE ROAD
On December 12, 2017 at the Fire District's Annual Election, Commissioner Richard S. Webster was re-elected to a 5-Year term on the Board of Fire Commissioners.
Also, voters approved Proposition 1 authorizing the financing and construction of a Fire District Substation at Feura Bush and Wemple Roads by a vote of 272 to 180.

The Elsmere Fire District and Elsmere Fire Company A, Inc. honored Firefighter Jerome "Jerry" C. Smith on May 5, 2018 for having achieved 50 years of active service as an Elsmere firefighter. Jerry was elected to active membership on July 25, 1968. He served as Fire Lieutenant from 1975 through 1977. Jerry served as Fire Captain from 1978 through 1981. He was the recipient of the Kenneth E. McNary Achievement Award on April 24, 1993 and became a Life Member of the Elsmere Fire Company A, Inc. that same month. He was awarded Life Membership in the Hudson Mohawk Volunteer Firemen's Association in Jule 2006. In May 2001, he was cited for most drills attended the previous year.
