ELSMERE FIRE COMPANY “A”, INC. TO JOINTLY HOST THE 2004 HUDSON-MOHAWK VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER’S ASSOCIATION and ALBANY COUNTY VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER’S ASSOCIATION CONVENTIONS
The Elsmere Fire Company will host the 77th annual Hudson-Mohawk Volunteer Firefighter's Association and the Albany County Volunteer Firefighter's Association Convention concurrently. This event will be held September 8, 9, 10 and 11, 2004, at our firehouse in the Town of Bethlehem, Albany County.
Annually, these events bring together volunteer firemen, ladies auxiliaries and their families, convention attendees including the local and surrounding communities, as well as parade spectators, carnival goers and guests from Albany and several surrounding counties. The counties that comprise the two associations include Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Fulton, Montgomery, Green, Columbia, Warren and Washington. Over 140 volunteer fire companies belong to these two prestigious associations most of which will attend the convention, meetings and parades. We expect over 15,000 people to attend the convention participating in the association meetings, carnival, parades and other activities.
The Elsmere Fire Company is very proud to serve the community, and is equally honored to host the first joint convention of these two firefighters’ associations.
Elsmere Fire Company "A" was formed in June of 1922 and has grown to an active membership of 75 firefighters.
The Fire Company consists of district, line and civil officers as a managing body with the general membership providing a balance of the organization. The District Officers, Chief and two Assistant Chiefs, supervise fire suppression, training, and safety program activities. Assisted by Line Officers, a Captain and five Lieutenants, they all work together within a structured system toward a common goal of fire protection and prevention. The Civil Officers, such as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Directors and Property Clerk, are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Fire Company.
Elsmere Fire Company is located in Albany County in the Town of Bethlehem at 15 West Poplar Drive.
