Welcome to Elsmere Fire District

Elsmere is one of seven hamlets in the Town of Bethlehem, along with Delmar, Glenmont, Selkirk, Slingerlands and South and North Bethlehem. Elsmere is directly south of and adjacent to the City of Albany, New York’s capital city. It is a modern suburban community that, due to its location in Albany County, offers a unique combination of friendly neighborhoods and convenient retail shopping opportunities. The Town of Bethlehem, incorporated in March of 1793, is a dynamic and diverse community with a population of over 32,000 and total area of 52 square miles.

Elsmere Fire Company Elects Officers for 2017

The Elsmere Fire Company held Annual Election of Officers on December 8, 2016 and the following members were elected to office for 2017.....

The Company Nominated, and the Board of Fire Commissioners appointed, the following District Officers for 2017:

Chief: Francis J. Wickham

1st Assistant Chief: Robert C. Baldwin

2nd Assistant Chief: Marc F. Futia

Also, the Company Elected the following Company Line Officers for 2017:

Captain: Jeffrey M. Obernesser

1st Lieutenant: Vincent Thompson

2nd Lieutenant: Michael A. Moon

3rd Lieutenant: Donald J. Ballard

4th Lieutenant: William J. Yates

Fire Police Lieutenant: Stephen R. Wright

Vice-President: Timothy C. Hannigan

Treasurer: Robert C. Johnson

Good Samaritans Honored by Elsmere Fire, Albany County Sheriff and Town of Bethlehem

On May 7th, two Brooklyn residents were honored by local Albany County agencies for their selfless bravery in pulling two victims from a car accident just before the vehicle burst into flames.
